Alpha Chi Omega supports our national philanthropy, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, which supports victims of domestic violence. Locally, Alpha Chi Omega aids the Knoxville Family Justice Center.
The Knoxville Family Justice Center is a one-stop resource center for victims of domestic violence. It provides victims with everything they need to get out of an abusive situation, and move toward a better life. The Knoxville Family Justice Center is one of only 15 Family Justice Centers in the nation, so Alpha Chi Omega is very thankful to be able to work with them.
Alpha Chi also supports the YWCA in Knoxville. YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. Their mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. They provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress. Women come to them in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. Alpha Chi raises money for this organization, and we also visit the house monthly for "Game Night", where we play games, bring donations, and other gifts we have made!
Every year Alpha Chi Omega raises money for the Family Justice Center, and YWCA by sponsoring a tailgate in the fall and Paintblast in the spring. Last year our tailgate "Shrimp Boil" raised $9,000! The tailgates take place before a football game and are attended by sisters, alum, parents, friends and other UT fans!
Paintblast is a paintball tournament where different fraternity and sororities teams compete against each other for a prize. Last year 20 teams participated in the tournament, and Alpha Chi raised $3,800 for our philanthropy.
Alpha Chi also participates in other philanthropic events on campus, such as:
