Dear Potential New Member,
Welcome to the University of Tennessee, and the best years of your life! College is an exciting time full of change and opportunities. Among those opportunities is the chance to become a member of UT’s strong Greek community. At such a big university, becoming part of a sisterhood like Alpha Chi Omega turns campus into home. It’s a great feeling to see a sister’s face among the crowds of students, and to walk around campus wearing the letters of one of the strongest organizations at UT.
Every fall, the Delta Pi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega looks forward to welcoming more of the best and the brightest into our sisterhood during formal recruitment. Our chapter is filled with women who will stand beside you as you cheer on the Vols at a football game, apply for a campus leadership position, sing your heart out at a concert, study for that big test, and even when take your next steps into the world after graduation.
Alpha Chi sisters are involved in every aspect of UT student life. We are dedicated to volunteering in the community, leading on campus, and succeeding academically. We also like to have fun! We have a great time at all of the date parties, formals, and sisterhood events we have each year.
The Alpha Chi’s at UT are looking forward to another great year, and cannot wait to meet all of the ladies coming through recruitment this fall. We know that the bonds we have formed as Alpha Chi sisters will last our whole lives, and we can’t wait to share that with you!
Have a great summer, and we’ll see you this fall!
Alpha Chi love, Laura Meriwether and Sarah Lewis

Recruitment Dates
Go Greek Round: August 17
This is the most fast paced round. On this day, every potential new member, or PNM (that’s you), will visit each of the thirteen sororities. The parties are short and are an introduction to each chapter on campus. This is the longest day, so hang in there!
Round 1 (Philanthropy): August 18 and August 19
During these rounds, every chapter will explain their philanthropy and other charitable endeavors. Often, there is a “craft” present as a representation of their philanthropy. Don’t worry, these crafts are extremely simple and easy to do.
Round 2 (Skit): August 21 and August 22
This round is by far the most fun. Each chapter performs a fun skit that is meant to represent the chapter’s personality. These skits include singing, dancing, and lots of noise. Oh yeah, there are also a fun drink and snacks! So sit back and enjoy the show!
Preference Night: August 23
This last round is the more serious and can often be emotional for you and chapter members. Listen to the women explain what it means to be an Alpha Chi Omega and make the decision that is best for you!
Bid Day: August 24
This is the last day of formal recruitment and is by far the most exciting. New sorority members wait outside for their Gamma Chi’s to hand them their invitation. All at once, envelopes are opened and you run to join your new sisters!
If you would like a recommendation form, please have an Alpha Chi Omega alumni e-mail Cody Simpson at msmimps15@utk.edu.
